De Bolina drijvende ketting veiligheidsbarrières zijn ontworpen om op drift geraakte en defecte vaartuigen van risicovolle locaties zoals stuwen of sluizen weg te houden. Reddingsoperaties kunnen tegelijkertijd worden uitgevoerd.
Deze barrières zijn nu de standaard installaties voor Canal & River Trust en Environment Agency in het Verenigd Koninkrijk. Beide hebben de barrières geïnstalleerd op vele locaties in Engeland in groene en zwarte kleuren, zodat ze in harmonie zijn met het omringende landschap.
Barrières die bovenstrooms geïnstalleerd zijn, hebben bewezen heel effectief te zijn in het beschermen van het publiek. Ze zijn heel erg duurzaam en vragen geen onderhoud.

The internal closed cell polyurethane foam filling ensures that the float will maintain full buoyancy in an unlikely event where the outer float skin is damaged by a heavy collision – they are virtually unsinkable.
