Airport Security Booms

These Chain Booms are designed to stop watercraft getting too close to aprons and aircraft movements, particularly where aircraft wings pass over water when parked or taxiing. They can deter intruders or demonstrators by providing an exclusion zone behind a physical barrier. This provides protection by giving the authorities time to respond when alerted by the alarm system.

Bolina Booms was involved in protecting the new Runway Hold Point at London City Airport. The platform allows four aircraft to taxi out on to the runway at any one time.  One aircraft will be in position for take off clearance whilst the additional three aircraft park in the hold and wait to move into position for take off. Our booms provided the required protection for aircraft movements.
